Writing titles and descriptions is a very important step to listing on nuMONDAY.

Titles and descriptions on your products are the main way in which our search and external search picks up your products.

When selling on nuMONDAY, key phrases and words are important for what we call search engine optimisation (SEO).  

You’ve probably heard the term SEO several times when looking at selling online.  

SEO simply means having your listings optimised or streamlined to be picked up by search engines such as Google.

In addition to this, it is also important for something we call internal SEO which is important for our internal searches.

For example, let’s say you are selling a necklace which is made from sterling silver.

It might also make a lovely gift for a bridesmaid for a wedding.

You’ll want to ensure you have strong SEO in your title.

And, you would not list the title as simply:

“Necklace”

You would want to use the correct key phrases in titles and descriptions.

You would look to use the key phrases and list the title as:

“Sterling Silver Bridesmaid Necklace”. 

A good tip for writing titles is to write out your products beforehand and using a mind map to think of keywords and phrases.

You can then create your titles from this.

When it comes to descriptions, you will once again want to think about keywords and phrases as well as the details of the product.  

For example, you would perhaps want to mention:

“A beautiful handmade sterling silver necklace perfect for a bridesmaid gift or wedding gift.”

This would make a good opening line for your description and covers what the product consists of.

In other words, it allows for keywords to be picked up for search engines, as well as, describe the product to the customer.

In addition to this, you may wish to include how the product was made and add more details such as size, materials used, etc.

A good way of thinking is to put yourself in the customers shoes.

What terms or phrases would you use to search for your product?

Finally, once you’ve thought about them make sure they are in your product listing titles and descriptions.
